U by Moen

First project with Grid Connect, joining with limited Rails experience that hadn't come up in the interview process: Ruby on Rails turned out to be part of the job on day one, learned on the fly. Also a genuinely distributed effort, with Grid Connect's team in Chicago, Moen in Ohio, and a remote seat in Costa Rica, plus hardware prototypes shipped internationally just to keep testing on real devices, a finicky process in its own right.

Worked as a developer across both the iOS app and the Rails backend. The project marked Moen's entry into IoT, and while later projects went to other partners, it opened the door to years of further investment in the space. A personal highlight: the Alexa skill built for the shower, giving people with mobility disabilities full voice control, hands-free, a small feature with an outsized impact.
