ConnectSense

Before Apple's own Home app existed, ConnectSense already served as a cross-vendor HomeKit controller, letting users manage any accessory from one place while giving Grid Connect's own line of pioneering smart-home products premium-tier support.

HomeKit only worked when a phone shared a network with the accessory, so AWS IoT was engineered as the remote path around that limitation. That work grew into IoT8020, a standalone, white-label platform later reused across other products at scale, Basement Guardian among them. Started here as an iOS engineer, but ended up working across the whole stack, from the Ruby and AWS backend to the client.
